Historic Sports Bar 7 Mile House Celebrates
163 Year Anniversary on Super Bowl Weekend
Free Adobo and Rice Bowls, ‘Puppy Bowl’ Adoption Day, and Filipino Street Food Half Time Event!
BRISBANE, CA, January 27, 2016 – As Super Bowl 50 marks its golden anniversary in the Golden State, the historic 7 Mile House, one of the oldest restaurants and sports bars in the San Francisco Bay Area, is celebrating its 163rd year in business. Known as the only “mile house” left in its original location, 7 Mile House will be celebrating with free adobo and rice bowls, and live music on Friday February 5, 2016. The anniversary continues into the weekend with an outdoor ‘Puppy Bowl’ Stadium, and puppy adoption on Saturday, with local organization Mighty Mutts Rescue. On Super Bowl Sunday, participate in a half time show you won’t forget: a Filipino food experience that will take you to the streets of Manila!
“This is an exciting anniversary for us as we pride ourselves on being one of the best and oldest sports bars in the area, and celebrating our 163rd Anniversary along with Super Bowl weekend is icing on the cake! We miss having Candlestick Park as our neighbor, but the sports fans continue to come regardless of the changes happening in the Bay Area. We’ll be giving away a customer favorite, adobo with rice, for free all day as a small thank you to everyone who have supported us through the years!" said Vanessa Garcia, Owner, 7 Mile House, "Plus, as a dog-friendly restaurant, we partnered with Mighty Mutts Rescue to hold our first ever ‘Puppy Bowl’ Pet Adoption Day to help homeless pups get a new home over the weekend. We’re looking forward to many more celebrations to come and continuing the tradition as a historic gathering place for families and the community.”
The family-owned establishment has created an inviting space that locals keep coming back to and a destination for visitors to get a taste of the Bay, with a unique mix of homestyle Italian, American, and Filipino food. Boasting live music every single night, 7 Mile House is arguably the only live music venue in the Peninsula where guests can enjoy hearing critically acclaimed musicians for free. All are invited to spend Super Bowl weekend at this family-friendly sports bar and restaurant located near the late and great Candlestick Park.
Friday, February 5, 2016, 11:30am, “Adobo and Rice Giveaway”- The festivities kick off as 7 Mile House serves their famous adobo and rice bowls for free all day long (while supplies last) as local band R&B band, 'LP', jams into the evening!
Saturday, February 6, 2016, 1-5pm, “Puppy Bowl and Adoption Day” - Let the dogs out for the ‘Puppy Bowl Stadium’ at 7 Mile House! Free hearty meals off the special “doggie dish” menu while Fido teams up with other canines on an outdoor stadium-like play area! 7 Mile House has also partnered with a newly-formed local non-profit organization, Mighty Mutts Rescue, who will be bringing puppies for adoption. A dollar from all items in the dog menu will be donated to Mighty Mutts Rescue. 7 Mile House will also sponsor a “Best Dressed Furry Football Fan” pet costume contest with prizes from Wag Hotels. Later in the evening, live reggae music featuring local band ‘Redwood Roots’ will keep the festivities going, so drop the puppies off at home and come back to party!
Sunday, February 7, 2016 “Filipino Street Food Experience and Half Time Show” - It's game day and the real halftime show is happening at 7 Mile House with the ultimate ‘Filipino Street Food Experience featuring Balut’! Balut is a developing duck embryo that is boiled and eaten in the shell (not to mention the perfect snack to indulge in with local craft beer on tap). Everyone is encouraged to try what Andrew Zimmern (Bizarre Foods) claims to be one of the strangest foods he has ever eaten in his life! To encourage first-time Balut eaters, 7 Mile House is offering a pitcher of any draft beer on the house to those who finish the meal.
