Welcome to the 7 Mile House

Self-guided history tour

Written and Narrated by Vanessa Garcia, Owner of 7 Mile House since 2004

You know that saying, “If walls could talk…”? Well, now they do!

With 165 years of rich and notorious history, 7 Mile House is one of the oldest establishments in the Bay Area with seemingly endless stories to tell. This self-guided, in-person tour is a fun and interactive way to learn about our beloved restaurant, established in 1858. You visit 7 stations, scan the QR codes with your phone then listen or read about our history.

Because this tour won’t tell all its stories, we encourage you to learn more by reading our 7 Mile book: “See You at the 7: Stories from the Bay Area’s Last Original Mile House” written by Vanessa Garcia, owner, and Regina Abuyuan, 2018. To get a hold of our book, you can request to read our house copy while at the restaurant, borrow it at local libraries or purchase an ebook on Amazon Kindle.

We hope you enjoy your history tour at 7 Mile House and if you have any feedback about your experience, let us know HERE. We love hearing from our guests!

How does it work?

  • Below is a map of the restaurant with locations of the QR code stations.

  • The stations are numbered but you don’t necessarily have to follow them in order. Each station has its own story.

  • You’ll need your phone’s camera to scan the QR code. If you need help, please ask our staff!

  • You can either read or listen to the tour but please make sure you’re not in the way of guests and servers.

  • Alternatively, you can also click on the links below to access each station.

Thank you for visiting us and I hope you enjoy your tour!
