The 'Adobo Cook-off For a Cause' recipient is St. Paul of the Shipwreck Church! This year's contestants helped us raise $1,750 for the organization!
Founded in 1915, over 100 years ago, the organization is almost as old as us! They are diverse and welcoming of an all faith community. Serving the families and youth of the Bayview Hunters Point for decades.
St. Paul of the Shipwreck Church hosts health fairs, after-school programs, a food pantry, advocates for restorative justice, offers ESL Classes, education courses, Zumba classes, and more!
7 Mile House held the second annual Adobo Cook-Off fundraiser for St. Paul of the Shipwreck Catholic Church in Brisbane, CA. Rommel Conclara reports.

1st place winner! - Josi Bartlett shares "As a native San Franciscan, Adobo is my favorite Filipino comfort food. As a non-cook, my adobo is my One-Hit-Wonder. It’s the only dish I take pleasure in making because I enjoying seeing the expressions of delight when people eat my adobo. Never expect leftovers. ENJOY!
3rd place - Glenn Galloway says "I have been married to a Filipina for 20 years. I am a graduate of the California Culinary Academy and spent 15 years in the restaurant/food service business. I’ve had many Filipino friends since moving to the Bay Area from Pittsburgh, Pa in 1988 and most all of them have influenced my cooking of Filipino food, but none more than my wife, Imelda."
Ava Marie - "I'm a food blogger born with autism and a contest cook from South San Francisco California. I was born into a Swedish Norwegian Mexican household. My Adobo tastes good because I got this recipe from my longtime neighbor who is half Filipino. I am known for making chili in South San Francisco and won 3 honorable mentions as well as red, white and blue ribbon awards at the San Mateo County Fair culinary arts. I may be the underdog against these Filipino mama's but am super competitive and let's do this!!!"
2nd place - Florianne Molina shares that cooking has always been her one true passion. "I learned to cook pretty young, and coincidentally Adobo was one of the first things I ever learned how to make. I’d like to think that my particular recipe is delicious because it has been developed over the past 20 years. It has changed for the better through all my moves, experience, and culinary school training. Up until this moment it has constantly been evolving, but I think this is finally the one!!"
Marla Guaring Victorio!: "My authentic traditional adobo recipe that’s cooked to perfection have awarded me to win the Adobo Festival 2016 Adobo Contest 1st place winner and 2015 Pistahan Ng Nayon Adobo Contest People’s Choice Award."

Award-winning restaurant 7 Mile House puts their Famous Pork Adobo to the test! The annual 'Adobo Cook-Off For A Cause' invites customers to challenge their adobo recipes against each other and the house recipe. Customers vote for their favorite and 100% of profits are donated to a local non-profit.
