Al Molina's 10th Year Anniversary
Last December 3rd, 7 Mile House celebrated the tenth year anniversary of Al Molina and the Jazz Sextet surrounded by family and friends, patrons and fans of the local jazz favorite.
Al Molina, the "Godfather" of jazz at the 7 Mile, has been showcasing his brassy ensemble on the first Tuesday of every month for 10 years now.
He’s putatively the most omnipresent of the venue’s veterans, likely to be called up from his stool at the bar to play on any other Tuesday or Jazz Jam Sunday.

Together with Al Bent (trombone, Tod Dickow (tenor sax), Larry Chinn (piano), Peter Barshay (brass) and Vince Lateano (Drums), the Al Molina Jazz Sextet has been a fan favorite ever since the fateful day in 2009 when Al first met Vanessa Garcia, owner of 7 Mile House. Check out a short clip on our IGTV here.
The room was packed as Vanessa introduced Al Molina and the band to an adoring and cheering crowd, eager to revel in the decade-long magic that the sextet has continued to deliver every first Tuesday of the month. Guests included Al’s daughter Dee Dee Molina, photographer and 7 Mile House aficionado Jessica Levant, Mimi Lum and friends, Katrina Versoza and more.
The night was filled with the sextet’s signature jazz ensemble and towards the end of the evening, Vanessa handed out commemorative glassware honoring Al Molina’s tenth year for a toast. Special thanks to Jessica Levant for making the commemorative flutes a reality!
Thank you to everyone who made it to out for December 3, 2019 and for celebrating this momentous decade with us. Here’s to another decade of great jazz in the making!
