7 Mile House Reopens After 1-Week Closure

I’ll be honest. I was nervous about closing for a week. I second-guessed myself so many times before I put out the announcement of our closure.

My heart was pounding hard when I pressed that “post” button and I dreaded calling people to cancel reservations. But after a few conversations and text messages, I felt so much better as many guests rescheduled and all were sympathetic. Then after I announced our closure on social media, many of you lauded our move as the right thing to do. I was so worried about how our patrons and community would react but instead we have been overwhelmed with your support.

The easy way out would have been to keep open and not tell anyone of a couple of people who turned out positive with COVID. And, yes, the business absolutely needs to be open now especially because we are trying to save for the winter when business drastically slows down.

But keeping open did not feel right. I would not want to be responsible for a spread whether that be among my staff or to customers. So we closed. Not just for a few days–but for a whole week.

The week was painful, knowing we were losing business especially this time of the year when we are usually the busiest. But the fact that my staff is mentally, emotionally and physically healthy has been the biggest reward.

Now it’s been a week and everyone is in good health, good spirits and, not to mention, extremely antsy to get out there and safely take care of all of you.

7 Mile is deep-cleaned and sanitized. Everyone is tested and we are 100% vaccinated. We are thankful to get through yet another COVID hurdle and we are absolutely not going to give up. As long as I am at the helm with my staff by my side, nothing will sink this ship and nobody can touch this house.

7 Mile House will reopen tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 29, and we can’t wait to see you!
