RSVP for a book talk (11:30am-12:00pm), and presentation on mile houses by 7 Mile House owner and historian, Vanessa Garcia, whose award-winning book "See You at the Seven - The Story of the Bay Area's Last Original Mile House”; was self-published one year ago.

Since then, Vanessa has spoken about the book and history of mile houses at The California Historical Society, SF History Days, San Francisco History Association, South San Francisco Library, Daly City History Association, Brisbane Library, and the San Francisco Library (main branch), to name a few.

Established in 1858, the historic 7 Mile House is a family and dog-friendly restaurant, sports bar, and live music venue, serving up a unique mix of homestyle American and Filipino food. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area for 160 years, 7 Mile House is the only Bay Area mile house left standing in its original location.

The book is about the history and people who have contributed to the 7 Mile House legacy since it was established in 1858. It was co-authored and edited by Vanessa’s cousin, Regina Abuyuan, an award-winning writer and editor in Manila, who recently passed away. This year, the anniversary celebration will be a tribute to Regina.

In the evening, the 7 Mile House stage will be graced by Dakila, a legendary Filipino American San Francisco band that was recently put back together by one of its original members. Dakila music is known as Bay Area RockLatinJazzPopFunkapino!

The original SF Dakila band started in 1972 with a 5 year recording contract with Epic/Columbia Records only to disband after 2 years leaving historical performances at Bill Graham’s Fillmore West, SF Winterland, major clubs in the SF Bay Area and countless universities and festivals.

The self-titled LP can be found on display at the Wing Luke Museum Exhibit for Asian America in Seattle, Washington as well as the Oakland Museum for one of the first Filipino-Americans to record a major label.
