COVID19 Frequently Asked Questions

Why is 7 Mile House temporarily closed?

After the mandated shelter-in-place was announced March 16, 2020, we sought to put the safety of our staff and customers first. While the restaurant was deemed as an essential business, management and staff chose not to operate to protect the health of our employees and our loved ones at home.

Many of us live with elderly family members and relatives, as well as little children who need care at home because schools have been canceled. Since we closed, we have been patiently sheltering at home and staying committed so that we can flatten the curve.

Why not sell food and drinks to go?

As much as we want to serve our customers, we want to prioritize everyone’s health and safety. We want to minimize the risk of exposure and focus on protecting ourselves, our loved ones and our communities.

We also want to be transparent: we explored the option of offering takeout food and drinks but will likely lose money than to break even, much less make a profit.

We are thankful for our vendors and landlord, who have helped us tremendously to make our closure possible so we may join all of you in sheltering in place.

When we decide to reopen, we will let you know via social media and our newsletter. Sign up here to get updates right away!

Is 7 Mile House planning to reopen?

We will reopen once the government lifts the shelter-in-place mandate and are praying it happens soon. But that is not possible unless we comply with the shelter at home order so please stay home and stay healthy so we can all see each other sooner!

How can people support the staff of 7 Mile House?

People can support the staff of 7 Mile House by donating to our GoFundMe here, which is meant to help our employees pay for rent, recover wages, buy groceries and make ends meet. Although we all have been able to file for unemployment, we all know this will be a long, uphill battle to get back to where we used to be and government help will not be enough to support our families and sustain a decent living in the long term.

An online garage sale will also be launched here featuring old 7 Mile House memorabilia, t-shirts, hoodies, branded glassware and more, with 100% of the proceeds going towards the employees.

Are there gift cards that we can buy?

Yes! We are selling gift cards, which will help us reopen the business once the shelter-in-place order is lifted. 7 Mile House will be in dire need of funds to purchase its food inventory and to pay for its employees when they come back to prepare for opening. You can buy gift cards here. We also just started a loyalty program that lets you earn points with every dollar you spend—that’s double the deliciousness!

Are there other ways to help?

Yes! We have launched our Social Distancing T-Shirt Fundraiser to help 7 Mile House reopen very soon! These shirts are black made with 100% cotton with print that says “If you can read this, you are too close!” with a 7 Mile logo below the text. Back says: “Step back 6 ft!”
